We are announcing GABRIEL™, the legal assistant of our Legal Assistance Division in Costa Rica. It is built for a firm's preparatory work — research, organization, drafting and follow-up — so that the attorney in charge can spend their judgment on what only they can do.

Grounded legal assistance, under the review and signature of the supervising attorney.

What it is, and what it is not

GABRIEL™ is a legal assistant working under the direction and supervision of an attorney admitted to the bar. All of its work is preparatory: the attorney in charge reviews, corrects, signs and files. GABRIEL™ does not provide legal advice, does not issue opinions in its own name, does not sign documents and does not act as a representative.

For law firms and practicing attorneys. GABRIEL™ does not take inquiries from the public and does not serve individuals using the justice system directly.

Capabilities

Preparatory work GABRIEL™ carries out for the firm. In every case the result is delivered to the attorney in charge for review.

Case law and regulatory research

Locating and organizing applicable case law and regulations, with the references in view, so the attorney in charge can judge their relevance.

Preparation of draft filings

Drafts prepared to the attorney's instructions, for their review, correction and signature. The filing is theirs; we prepare the draft.

Deadline computation as a support tool

Support in calculating deadlines. Verifying the deadline, and responsibility for it, always rests with the attorney in charge.

Case file tracking

Organizing and tracking the status of the firm's case files, so the team can see what is outstanding.

Form preparation

Forms prepared from the information the firm supplies, ready for the attorney in charge to review.

Support with the Costa Rican Judiciary's online system (SGL)

Assisting the attorney in their use of the SGL. GABRIEL™ does not file or transact with the Judiciary: the attorney in charge does. There is no institutional relationship with the Judiciary.

The attorney decides, always

Before the authorities of the Republic, the status of attorney belongs only to those admitted to the Costa Rican bar. That order is what this service respects and depends on entirely: GABRIEL™ prepares, the attorney in charge reviews and takes responsibility, and it is they who appear, sign and file. Nothing leaves the preparatory stage without passing through that review.

GABRIEL™ is developed in practice, on real legal work, with the feedback of practicing attorneys in Costa Rica.

Available in Costa Rica. The professional framework this service rests on — assistance under an attorney admitted to the bar — is Costa Rican, and we do not claim coverage in other jurisdictions.
